From my calculations you can't have enough bio suface or bio media to surfice for the total fish weight you have in there. heres what i'd do to start with take the cichlid out sorry if you;ve grown attached to him but cichlids belong with cichlids in my oppinion.plus i think they're sooo boring. we have tanganikans and malawis at college and all they do is swim franticly around the tank. guess that appeals to some people ![]() |

The white tips is the give away... http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/bleedingheart.xm As for the gourami - how big is it, and how would you describe its body shape? if it's quite small and rounded over all it's probably a dwarf gourami, in which case it's fine for your tank. The cichlid sound slike a Gold German Ram, which is a different color variety of the normal German Ram which is mostly blue. These are actually one of the most peaceful cichlids and i think he'd be fine for your tank. Pay attention to nitrates, ammonia and nitrite because they can be very sensitive to these parameters. The pleco kind of worries me because plecos are always poop machines, no matter the size. If he is a BN then he should be ok, but make sure to gravel vac regularly to clean up his mess. If he's a common pleco then I'm afraid he'd be better off going back to the pet store. It sounds a little crowded in there... a better/ bigger filter may help out. |

A hang on back filter like the aqua-clear models hide behind the background. They're very easy to clean and quiet to run, you won't even know it's there. I'd get one that is one size up from what you need for the tank, I'd recommend the AC 50, then you don't have to worry about under-filtering and I don't really think you can ever over-filter. Are the plants live? "If you're afraid you'll make a mistake, you won't make anything." -Family Circus |
