as in a GM fish? no, none exist other than the zebra danio, at least, none that you can currently purchase.

What was it about the appearance you liked? maybe there is a natural alternative?

There are fish that exhibit bioluminescence, however the only one that is sold with any regularity is the saltwater Pinecone Fish. However, none of the fish that naturally exhibit bioluminescence that I can think of off the top of my head I would consider an easy fish or one that should even be in captivity.

Im not entirely thrilled with the prospect of GM fish in the first place, I think its probably fair to say that no-one knows the long term effects of this, and it increases the chances of cross- species disease evolution. I think the technology is a bit too scary for general fish use. Just because it looks cool doesnt always mean it actually is cool.

yes there are other injected colorfish. *note* my responce is not to say injecting is right or wrong.

anyway, injected fish dont always glow, but the madaka fish or rice fish(which is often overlooked) are beening breed this way responceably. These fish have been altered so they cann't breed, that way they can't interfer with wild stocks,

and they are injected, the jeelyfish gene was added when they were in egg forms.

just a note on madaka fish, these fish have to be #1 easiest fish to breed, sad they are often not avalible and over looked. The fish has eggs on the outside and get fert. by males and they get laid in java moss. this fishes are often now being used in labs b/c they breed so easy.

I do know of a fish that glow's, they have a large tank of them at the aquarium here in Cincinnati, i dont know the name off the top of my head though. They really do glow!, that have them in a completely blacked out room/tank, its pretty cool.

but i dont think that these can be kept by just anyone.
