Last week i bought 2 gold severums to feed to my Reds. Unfortunately they werent eaten so i had to put them into a 2 foot to stop them stressing my Reds out. Every time i come in from school they race to the front of the tank and are there lined up looking at me. I was wondering do they do this because they recognise it's me or is it just because they're hungry.

I realise that soon i'll have to upgrade them to a bigger tank. But i'm hoping my Reds will come round to the idea of eating them before i have to go to measures like that

I think they have earned the right to live. I have an angle that puts its face up to the glass like that but this one is a real punk and it just wants to fight.

I'd lke to keep them but the biggest tank i can offer them is a 3 foot. So it's much more convenient to fatten them up and get them swallowed

these are lovely fish, grow them a little in the 3 foot & then if you cant get a bigger one swap the fish for something else.

dont let them die!!!!

Raise them in the 3 foot tank & then try to get them a bigger one or trade them for something else at your LFS.

I don't get why people buy fish like that for food. Why would you want to spend $5 on a feeder?

Red Bellied Piranhas. Well i suppose i could grow them in the 3 foot. And hopefully by then i'll have my own place and will be able to have as many tanks as i like

Djt - If you're just going to flame me and not post anything constructive then just don't post!

thankies

First of all, I think you're a bit too defensive. I was just asking a question. Why would you buy a tropical fish for food rather than a guppy (or better yet, earthworms or beefheart). I can't see spending $5 for food, especially if it may contain parasites and won't be as healthy as cheaper food in the long run.

If you think that's a flame, there's something wrong with you. I can do much worse, trust me.

Anyway, I think that, if you bought the fish for food, then use it. Just leave them with the reds, and don't get too attached to them. That's the catch with keeping predatory fish.

Lets stick to the topic fellas.

Thanks for getting back on track dj.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

They might recognise you actually. Ok it is probably connected to food a bit as well.

Example, I look after the fish tank at work. If anyone goes up to the glass, the Angel fish comes over, But if I go over she does this little excited swimmin display.

If I go over when someone is already there, she stops swimming near thenm and comes over to me (doing her little display).

Dont Kill the severums they are well cool fish. Take em back. Or grow them then sell them

people near tank = food.

Anyone could walk up to the tank and they'd race over. It's patterned in their brains. Sorry mate, they're just looking for food. They have no idea where they're next meal is coming from, so they're constantly trying to eat.

My angel may be just looking for food but it only comes when I'm near the tank. Same with the yoyos. Anyone else walks up and they usually go on with their antics or take off hiding. If I walk up they all come out and wiggle along the glass. The angel will look at someone else and kinda wait to see if they'll drop in food but when I go past the tank it starts wiggling all over and swimming up and down real quick.
