i have hard water, and a ph of 8.3 is there any smallish cichlid or anyother fish that naturaly breeds in my type water? i have had my bettas breed several times in my water but i wanted somthing like a barb (maybe cherries? i already have a beautifull male)or like a cichlid (maybe the size of a ram? i have 2 bolivians) i realy want somthing that will protect its fry and breed several times maybe a mouth brooder? im getting a larger tank, but i want to stock it with smallish breeders, i dont care if all the fry survive, just a few

Any tangaykin shell dweller would be good. Most stay under 3" and you can keep a lot of them in a smaller tank.

You can go with Lake Tanganyka fish. Make some searches about this lake & you'll find some beautiful fish.

The Julidochromis genus is also an option. Small, pretty, and theyre pretty easy to breed.
