Ok, i know i'm a pain, but i'm a monkey

and i know its still summer, but i'm planning ahead.... ok heres the challenge... 150g fish tanks, and heaters?

so far, with what i found, and seen. i'm thinking either 4 300 watt heaters or 3 400 watters... anybody have any other suggestions?

Fish tanks are an expensive addiction

the 3 400 watt heaters might be less expensive than 4 300 watt heaters. But I think with the 3 400 watt heaters it would be easier to hide 3 heaters than 4.

Monkey are you trying to boil your fish maybe my math is off, but at 5 wpg @ 150 gallons I come up with you needing 750 watts:%)unless it gets really really really cold up northIf it were me, and you keep the house on the rather cool side, get 3-250s and you should be good to go...for using them, I'd go one on each end (back side) and one in the middle...heck at least someone else is trying to plan for the coming winter, heater wise houston

I would go with 3 heaters, but buy 4, so you'll have 1 spare.

My 125 gallon is well heated with a single 300 watt heater (came with the tank second-hand). If you like backups, then just divide between the number you get, but you probably don't need to go all the way for 1200 watts.

My readings tell me 3-5 Watts per Gall

That would make it either 2 or 3 300w heaters. What ever you do buy an extra one if they decide to just stop working you can be sure it will be on a time when you cannot get one straight away.

You could use three heaters they then would be working less and spacing them corectly you would not have a cool spot in the tank.

I have two in my 5ft tank one at the filter inlet and the other at the opposite end at the outlet.
