Ok, as some know I am going to get a 29 gallon (replacing a broken one) for christmas I have all the materials I need listed and I might log it soon, just to start things up even though I won't start til november at earliest.

Well, now I am starting to think of what to do with my 55 gallon again. My mind keeps skipping between fish and I can never seem to pick the ones I want. So far (only so far) my mind is set on this...

2-3 Red Turqois Discus
20 Cardinal Tetras
4 Blue (or Bolivian) Rams (2 pairs of each)
10 Corydoras Schwartzi
1 Small gold plec (yes I realize he will get bigger...)

Now, can you see any problems with this? Any fish you would replace with another?

All input is greatly appreciated

I don't see any conflicts between those fish.
Go for it & post some pics.

Well I've HEARD that discus can eat cardinals, but I don't see that happening.

That would be a BEAUTIFUL tank. Hope the cories don't mind the high temperatures too much. Good luck!

Well then, that was easy

I hope to have it started by at LEAST the middle of september

[edit] one last question

Could a twig catfish be good in that set up? I'm not sure how big they get though so any information on these guys would be greatly appreciated.

That would be a nice biotope

a twig would be a nice replacement for the pleco when it grows bigger here is some info on them..

A black rhom, weighates? I havn't heard of them before, but I think I might look at them. Well seeing as none of my fish are conflicting, I think this is what I will do, but would it be ok to ahve the Pleco AND the twig? I'm sure the pleco doesn't get too big, only 7 inches and that should be fine in a 55 gallon. Good filtration and probably weekly to biweekly water changes is what I'm seeing right now.

The Gold nugget pleco I want, is L-18, and only grows to 6 inches compared to the L-177 which grows to 11.5 inches.

Er, I think i meant whiptail cat when I said twig catfish. It isn't Farlowella acus, but the fish I am referring to is [link=Rineloricaria fallax]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/whiptail.xml" style="COLOR: #40FF40[/link]...would THIS fish be ok in this set up (I don't see a reson for it not since it almost the same as a twig catfish, but I want to be sure, the shape of this fishes body is what makes me want it more)

Its a black Rhombus. Look it up on webcrawler. there is no profile for it on here.

Chris

PS- If you want a community tank this is not the fish for it but if you want 1 show stopping fish this is it
