Hey guys, I havent fed my fish yet, and i hear the "clicking" sound that comes after the clwon loaches are eating their pellets.

And since i know that the clowns dont "click" without food, or when their happy, i looked in the tank.

I saw my YoYo loach eating the plastic around the heater in the tank.

What can I do?? I dont want the stupid thing to electricute itself and the other fish, and i dont want to take my heater out (since it is finally warm enough to keep windows open.

Well, he was up there nipping at it, and you can see grooved cut out of it from his "tooth"

He has never done this before either, he just started it like a week ago.

try moving the heater to another place in the tank...place some drift wood in front of it so it isn't quite so easy to get through, hope and pray he knaws that tooth down, feed some tough veggies...that's my thoughts though I don't know if they will help...my betta still acts as though he is spawning with the heater in his tank heidi

Plastic? All my heaters are glass to the plastic top which I keep out of the tank so I can adjust temp. Otherwise there's the suction cups which wouldn't cause any problems if chewed on. My yoyos love swimming behind the heaters and in loops around the suction cups but have never chewed on them. Moving it or putting another object there might distract him. Yoyos have very short attention spans and I can't say they are the smartest of fish. They do develop habits easily. Since he's found something to do he's likely to keep chewing on it. He'll probably forget about it in no time if you change things around.

Well, there are more YoYo's in the tank (i cant tell if only 1 is doing it, they look alike and are the same size)

Also, there is no place I can put it in the tank (I have an eclipse hood)

Sorry if i didnt make any "come backs" but i forget what people said

Im not trying to be hard, but there is nothing i can really do (that i can think of)

Get a different heater? I don't know... What was that thread comparing fish to dogs? Yoyos are terriers happy go lucky, always bouncing around, but when they get interested in something they never let it go.
