Bettas should be in water around 75 - 85.
70 is too low and 90 was too high.
Are you running a heater? The fry shouldn't get too cold, or they will develop Velvet.

Hows the daddy doing? Is he eating again now?.
I wouldn't move the fry around too much at the moment. Just keep the water cleaned regularly, warm, and the fry well fed. You probably loose some fry, but don't get too upset. It nature. All the best. **Tiger

I would remove him now. The ones not swimming now might be weak, and it would be in his nature to cult them. Yes, start feeding now. Just remember to do regular water changes so the water doesn't pollute. I'll have another look at you photos and let you know what colour they are named.**Tiger

what do u think about me breeding my young steel blue to my litle older red/black butterfly? do u think she might have a little black gene in her? or should i look around for a butterfly female? i just moved him to another 10 with a probly 2 gallon corner cut off with a divider, and i put red on the other side , omg his black is showing up like it never has before, it is like BLACK! not like a grey/black, i will set up my camera and see how good of a pic i can get, im falling in love all over again

Breeding bro to sis is perfactly normal, its how most, if not all, lines/strains are created. You can cross without problem for up to 6generations, thats the rule of thumb

the fry are doing great i think i have like between 30-50 its hard to tell i noticed that 10 got stuck to the top of the styrofoam i guess he pushed them up too far into the nest, and when the bubbles popped they couldent flip them selfs into the water i was wondering if i should put 2 1 gallons in the 10 and float them in there for warmth, just so i can ensure they are getting food, im worried about some starving because i have a big group at one end of the tank, but some others are still on the other side of it, and all are free swimming now, i took the male out yesterday and floated him for likr an hour because he went from 90 degree water to like 70, but after i dumped him and fed him he seems to be doing better i found like hundreds of canning jars in the basement so i will ask my dad about them when i need them. i will pm calltya with the rest of my questions

i looked at the thermomiter wrong it was only 85, not 90, and i did a water change and i havent lost any from that...yet but that was yesterday so they must be eating right? if its been like 3 days of 3 feedings a day, i removed alot of planaria, but actually they are eating the left overfood on the bottom so i guess its not all bad it doed look like they are a little bigger, but i cant be sure, and there was like 10 times more fry than what i originally thought they hide realy well, i still only see a few at a time, and i learned nets dont help with anything but getting stuff off the bottom, and i saw 1 poop, so i guess thats good too

You're doing well. When shopping purchase a handy item called a "turkey Baster" this will make it easier to suck up their poo. Even through they are eating the food on the bottom, still do regular water changes. Fresh food/ fresh water = healthy little fishys. **Tiger.

Auuugh, lucky you!! I tried for a year to breed five pairs of bettas (All mail-ordered from breeders, that cleared out my wallet) and ALL the males ate their babies. It was so frusterating.

About the naming: Sure, why not? Show us pics of the babies as soon as you can!

Don't worry, thats just nature. Its normal to have some fry die off, likely they were weak. Just keep on doin what your doin, sounds like its gonna be a good spawn!

yea, i dont want to feed powders, and 1 fry is almost free swimming, and most if all are in the stage before free swimming when they can anker themselves to the surface of the water and other items like plants and the styrofoam, i lost a bunch because he was working as hard as he could, but he sometimes forgot the same fry on the bottom of the tank, so he ate the dead ones, but i still have like 10 times that many and i cant go out and get any fry food i dont have any pet places near me, but hmm, on thurs im going into vermont, maybe i will stop by Noah's Ark and pick up some food, i havent ever had too much luck with BBS because i cant seperate the shells frm the food very well, i might just buy somthing else, but the fry that are alive are doing great, and dad is doing great too,
