well i saw my big male threadfish puffing up his fins and dancing around the female, and what i htink might be a smaller male (still not sure, could be female) but could there be love in the water?

although there r too many preditors in the tank the eggs wont survive, but it would be nice to know they like the tank

just a general rainbow breeding, use a spawning mops to hold the eggs, it could be a territory thing. i know my rainbows did something like urs(not the same type though) but then stopped, so it could be a terrtory thing.

Yes, those behaviours are usually precursors to breeding,
It may be a male trying to win a female, or a male
trying to show another male whos the bigger stud!
Sounds like they are very happy in your tank!

My male threadfins are always flashing their fins and swimming around the females. Usually the females just ignore them and keep swimming. Sometimes they all get in a competition and one corner of the tank will be just full of flashing fins. The males sure throw alot of effort into it but they just can't seem to impress the females enough.

These Threadfins - Iratherina werneri by any chance?

If you want them to spawn, they need conditioning. Time to obtain LOTS of live Daphnia for them, or Brine Shrimp if you can't get Daphnia. Your females are ignoring your males because they're not ripe. Feed them live foods, however, and they'll probably ripen up quite nicely if they're old enough.

Try carpet bombing them with live Daphnia for 7 days and see if that makes a difference. I suspect it will!
