You need atleast a 3ft wide tank and 8ft long. If your handy at all then you try to build one. I know lots of people who built tanks up to 300g under a thousand. An 8 foot tank is only needed for a silver arowana(South American). SA arowanas are the biggest in the world. The webpage talks about Asian arowanas, the smallest. The question is asking towards a jardini, an Australian arowana. Aus. arowanas are in between Asian and SA. Therefore, the tank size should be too. Although the tank is obscenely large and I would not want to clean that, it can hold an arowana. |

A nearly 3' fish cannot be kept in said tank for the duration of it's life. Minimum specs, IMO, 1.5x length width wise, and 3.5x it's length length wise. A DIY sump and a canister filter can't cost more than 250 bucks. The rest of the 750 can be used to order a custom built tank. Last edited by Cup_of_Lifenoodles at 13-Jul-2005 11:18 |

One is 15 years old, and the other 8 years old. I kept my silver for 8 years in a 300 gal. And now have my black in a 7 foot 300 gal. There is always a bigger fish... |
