Try small water changes (5% in the morning and evening), add airstones, hood up and keep a fan on it to cool by water evaporation, and try not to drop the temp by more than a degree than what it usually is to avoid an ick outbreak. Good luck.

it seems like it's going to be a hot summer for a lot of folks, besides doing what leslie has listed I would also keep the lights off on the tank, and in the room if possible. And if possible add too the surface agitation, you can do this by dropping the level of the water in the tank some if you have an HOB...

best of luck, and don't forget to keep cool yourself heidi

How about dropping a couple of ice cubes in the filter?

it happened to me b4..till i installed im ac...now..im ok
u can do the same or...change water 10% daily till it lowers (this is a hassle thou)...another one...run a fan on the surface of the water...but this causes evap..so..just top off with water....what i dont recommend thou is putting cold bottled water and that goes for ice cubes in the tank coz this causes spot water flactuation in temp in the tank thats not gud for the fish.

Change a bit of water daily & keep the lights off. Place a fan on the surface of the tank & add some airstones.

As said adding ice to the tank is not good, the reason is it can lead to an outbreak of ich, and then you have to deal with it as wellheidi

i think having a fan to evaporate more water is the best low-cost sollution. the evaporating water will reduce the heat of the tank just like sweat does.
changing water might not help that much, because my guess is the temp will rise back too fast (couple of hours tops).
lighting chould be turned off only if it is close to the water. since most use fluorescent lights, the light itself is pretty cold (low on IR wavelength), so you chouldn't worry about it. the light tubes themselves do get hot, so if they're close to the water surface, take them away.
