Excellent tip !

I do this 15 minutes before sleeptime, feed the fish then observe. All the fish come out, as feeding time is once per day, perfect time to inspect them, as well as enjoy their antics. Very relaxing to do before sleep.

Jeez Dave, you don't have to be so sarcastic.

But anyway, at the moment I don't have cable so after I lay my son down to sleep, I sit and watch my fish for an hour or more. Very interesting behavior some of them have. My red tail chases my barbs, one yoyo is always trying to swim out the front of the tank, and if I hang out for long enough, I see my spotted leaf.

MONKEYS ARE COOL, BUT SEA-MONKEYS ARE BETTER.

People need reminding to watch their fish now? Should we make plans in case they need reminding how to breathe too? I thought the whole point of having a fish tank was to watch them, otherwise you'd be buying a tank a filter and fish all costing hundreds of pounds , carrying out routine maintenance and feeding them to deliberately ignore them????

Ok I can understand the differential between casually looking at a fish and actually closely observing them for health etc, but dont most fish keeperes usually look at fish casually and then notice if something is wrong anyway?

I suppose you could remind people to put their contacts in or specs on.lol.

Weird.

One thing that is a bit more useful is doing a headcount but if you have loads of tetras or other small virtually identical looking shoaling fish things can get a bit frustrating.

1 ,2,3,4, aww what, did i count him already , 12345567 a dammit they all moved.Aaaagh HALF OF THEM ARE MISSING? , er no there they are. 1 2 3 4 7 9 14 oh hell , cant count now. I swear once i must have counted fish more than 20 times before I went on holiday and when I came back.
