i personally prefer microworms because they are 10000000000 times easier to feed then BBS! which makes me wonder, if microworms r such a cheap, easy and renuable source of food for fry while BBS can be very tedious why arent microworms more popular?

does anyone know the nutritional breakdown of the two?

Brine shrimp are more widely known, are easier to get, hatch faster, and baby brine are more nutritious than microworms due to the life-sustaining yolk sac they carry as newborns

Microworms STINK!!!!!!! You have to keep them alive, which may be a problem for some who only occasionally want to raise fry.

BBS don't smell, and you only have to hatch them when required. However, it takes some time to come up with enough to feed the hungry mouths. Then again, if you start with a microworm starter culture, you may not find enough to feed fry initially, anyway.

awww microworms dun smell that bad!

i reckon they r heaps easier that BBS, all u have to do is remove the lid, swipe ur finger across the side of the containter and thats it! enough food for heaps of fry!

i always find it so anoying/hard trying to decapsulate or separate the shells and the eggs after they hatch. people say the eggs should float and the BBS should sink (with a lightsource at the bottom of the container) but i have eggs floating everywhere! plus BBS only last a couple of days before having the re-hatch right? or do some people hatch alot and just freeze them?

also where on earth do u find a net fine enough to rinse them!

Smells like a brewery!!!! Or worse! They sat on my fish tank near the front door. NOT a great welcome home, I assure you! Relocate to the carport!

There are some bbs that are decapsulated on the market, and they hatch quicker, and no capsules! No net, just pour through coffee filter paper.

the BBS do increase growth rates of fry, but the MW are great for the first few days or for the smaller fry.

dont know the breakdown, but somewhere i have a site that has it.. i'll have to hunt.
