I have a 10gal tank with one calico ryukin. He's a small guy - only about an inch, maybe two.

I'm looking to put in more fish in the tank, but don't know what else I can add with him other than more ryunkins. My bf wants to add a small turtle, but I've never known turtles that small... I always thought they got much too large for a tank this size.

I'm also open to upgrading the tank size, but I don't have the room for anything more than a 20g.

Thanks!

If you don't have room for anything over 20 gallons, don't get a goldfish.

Goldfish are very dirty and require alot more water space then other fish. Don't add any fish to the 10 gallon.

As mentioned above, goldies are very large and dirty fish and will require a much larger tank. I'd return the goldie asap, and don't add any turtles to such a small tank.

goldfish and turtles both don't belong in 10 gallons. if you are not planning on moving that goldfish, then that tank is way over stocked. if you have a pond or a larger tank, that he will be moved to, i would ad paradice fishes, guppies, minnows etc. but with a goldfsh a paradice fish may do well(if given a good filter) b/c they can tolerate cold water.
