Not sure about the Pirahnas(as long as you're not getting Red Bellied Pacus...); but the Oscar is a definate no-no(even alone)in that size of a tank....unless you have Rock-Solid plans of getting a MUCH bigger tank ASAP.

You may also be over-filtering that tank...but I'm not sure...never had a long tank before.

BIG NO for pirhanas in a 30 gallon long! Pirhanas are schooling fish, and schooling means at least 3 so you are looking at needing to put them in AT LEAST a 55 gallon. Your filtration ideas are wonderful if you go with pirhanas, but please dont put them in a 30 gallon long..they get big! and make a lot of mess, try cichlids for your tank..that might be easier, you will still get the agressiveness but much happier fish in the 30 long. I hope this helps and you understand why. check out how big the pirhanas get too!

72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up
75 gallon: A. Baenschi trio,Cyanotilapia Afra Cobwe(4), copadichromis trewavase, protomelas sp. tangerine tiger(breeding pair)

Congrats on the new tank, but like said before red-bellies would be a no no. I would suggest to pull the UGF, Its going to be nothing in a couple months. If you want an agressive fish then I would suggest a pair of convict cichlids. They are a very easy CA cichlid that are notorious for there breeding behavior.

I agree, the piranhas and oscar would all get much too large for only thirty gallons of water.

Is it aggressive fish you are looking for? Have you considered other options, such as the smaller African cichlids? Those fish that you wanted just get too big.

Congrats. for your new tank, but i wouldn't recommend Oscars or Pirahnas in a 30Gal.

Congrats on your new tank. I have had RBP's in the past and can say you need at least a 55gal tank. However not certain of the fish purchasable in your area but you could possibly look into a smaller species of Piranha's
