i lost a guppy i have no idea were he went. one night i had 6 now i have five. all i have in the tank is other schooling fish, one upsidedown catfish one bn pleco and one exotic 5" pleco from South America.

now maybe if the fish died the exotic pleco might have eaten it. he loves shrimp so i know he eats meat. but i cant see a pleco eating a guppy

if any one has any ideas

With 2 plecos and considering the size of the guppy all evidence of death is long gone.

Jumped, eaten, decomposed, sucked up the filter, in a spot where you can't see it are all feasable options.

I've had aliens snatch a platy before....it's a huge conspiracy....I'm talking CIA, second gunman on the grassy knoll, black ops stuff here.

Sorry it's early, I'm a little slap happy!!

I've always wondered about the "missing fish" phenomenon. Especially when there is nothing big enough to eat it!!

i actually lost a guppy a couple months ago, never found her. but a couple weeks ago i lots another one and i still couldn't find her. the only fish that would have been able to eat her was the pleco or the algea eater (i got rid of that algea eater), anyway, when i was doing my 1/3 water change, i decided to actually take more water out and rinse out some of the plants, and as i got to the sink with the plant i saw my fish in 3 or 4 pieces stuck in the plant. Not appealing at all...... disgusting to be quite honnest!

But my friend had a loach, and one day we couldn't find it.. she had foil on the top of her aquarium bc she didn't have a cover.....but later on in the day after scavenging that poor little 10gal aquarium my boyfriend found the loach on the floor about 4 feet from the aquarium all shrivled! lol..
so that mystery can SOMETIMES be solved...

It is a phenomenon much like the sock eating dryer.

Maybe that explains where this mystery fish came from... My sister found a dead dried up fish on the floor that the cat must have carried in only I have no idea what fish it was. I don't have any unaccounted for fish that match her size and shape description.
