Well I had a fish die today (dwarf honey gourami) and want to replace him. All my other fish are acting quite healthy so I do not think it is problem with my tank.

20 gallon tall Heavily Planted

3 dwarf rainbows
3 otto cats
1 dwarf powder blue gourami
1 rubbernose pleco

This tank is very peaceful and I want to keep it that way. I was thinking maybe going with a pearl gourami as they get a littl ebigger than the dwarfs and I owuld liek a slightly larger fish. or maybe something a little mroe exotic if anyone can think of anything that would fit in.

Any suggestions? This tank has been doing very well for a long time and I do not feel that is is over stocked.

thanks

Maybe some Harlequin's, or as you said, a Pearl Gourami.

The Pearl Gourami would harass the Dwarf Gourami.

Cardinal Tetras, Glowlights Tetras, Rummynose Tetras, maybe a school of barbs, any one of these fish would be fine, jsut get about 6 of one species.

Why not try for a sparkling gourami to replace the dwarf? They look really neat, but I think are hard to come by. But the dwarf is fine where he is so I wouldn't get rid of him unless you want the pearl gourami more. The pearl would probably fight with the dwarf.

Cherry barbs are peaceful, have great color and do well in pairs.

As far as the sparkling gourami suggestion, I keep 3 with a M/F honey gourami pair and a betta coccina without any problems.
