Congratulations on your sweet deal. What is it that you like? Cichlids? Tetras? You could do a variety of things with this tank depending on your desires.

Well done sounds like a good days work and all turned out for the good. How old is the tank & is it in good condition?

What you want to put in your tank is your decision. It is and expression of you and your interests. We can help you along the way. However, the initial decision is yours.

However, since I am excited and like living through others, I'll be more than happy to help you. Basically there are a few ways you can go with any decent sized tank like yours.

Community
African chichlid - Mawali
African chichlid - Tangs
Aggressive (might be hard in your tank)
Species-only
Brackish
Saltwater

In your case, I would do African chichlids of some sort. community has been done and done and done again. Everybody has angelfish and tetras. Brackish and saltwater require lots of time and money. In an agressive or species only, you wouldn't be able to fit alot in that tank. Therefore, I say Africans. They are pretty origional (especially tangs) and are a joy to take care of. However, any decision is up to you.

Best of luck

Congrats. That is a nice tank for a planted tank, if you are interested in that route. It would make a nice cichlid tank too, tho.

I have only one question for those who know, because I don't. If the tank is 10 years old, how good is the silicone seal? How long do they last?

They last pretty long if it is a well-made tank. I have a 10 gallon that is approaching its 12th birthday, and the seals still look brand new.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
