I'm not sure which species (if any) would be okay in there size-wise, but just the water issues alone would scare me off. Freshwater flounders won't be the easiest things to take care of, and just ten gallons of water aren't going to make things any less difficult. Betta macrostoma? Those things are *really* expensive! Again, it would be risky placing one in such a small tank. I sure wouldn't give my hundred-dollar fish anything that cramped. Maybe one or a pair of honey gouramis instead? Only about a year and a half for me . You could always put a small group of zebra danioes in the college tank. They are very hardy. |

MEANIES! anyways.. good luck with that. *Chelle* I love the fishes cuz they're SOOO delicious... |

Set-up and tear-down is a pain, but it's worth it. I'm going to have to set up my tank again tomorrow as I'm moving back in. :%) There are a variety of small fishes that can be considered. Killifish are an idea. Rams, Featherfin Rainbows, small tetras, Kuhli Loaches, Corydoras, Otocinclus are included in the choices in the freshwater relam. You could do puffers if you don't mind a species tank, or perhaps even try combining them with Bumblebee Gobies. You've got plenty of options. If your dorm allows or people don't make a big deal about it (though technically illegal, our RA's probably wouldn't turn someone in for keeping, for example, an African Dwarf Frog), you have other non-piscine options as well, such as shrimp or a crayfish tank. You can also get some of those animals found at science stores such as Sea Monkeys or Triops; those are probably not something people would make a big deal about, and they're cool to boot, 'specially Triops. I have to admit, though, most people think my Mudskipper is pretty cool, though. Many people haven't seen one before I brought mine, though I learned that apparently there was one in Ren & Stimpy... However, this works because the Mudskipper is not all that big and my dorms allow up to 20 gallons. Check to make sure your dorms allow animals at all; some schools don't!About flounders... Though they are often sold at the tiny size of approximately an inch in length if not less, if I'm not mistaken most species get relatively large. You'd have to be ready to move it out if it gets too big.
