Major problem is water quality taking a dive. Fish eat more and produce more ammonia. Food that goes uneaten breaks down to produce more ammonia. You end up with a grotty tank with too many toxic substances.

It can throw the chemistry out of whachk to the point where you end up with 'pea soup' algae.

Depending on the type of food, constipation is a real worry, mainly with high protien foods.

Plus, its a waste of food. the fish can't process large quantities effectively, they are designed for little & often for the most part, so the food goes straight through them. smaller quantities ,ore often will give you more benefit.

And well, its a waste of food, so its also a waste of money

I heard someone say the secret to longevity is controlled underfeeding. Might be worth looking into

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

Hey... i was gonna say that. . .

I don't know much but, when I started keeping fish again, I was told smaller amounts of food, more often unless i am going away.. then the time release thing.

Fish can die with overfeeding & you will pollute the water & have an Algae Growth & if you have some pest Snails, they will multiply with the excess food.
