I ran across a high school friend today that I havnt seen in like 6 years at the fish place and she was telling me that she found a cheaper way to decorate your fish tank with fake plants byt going to a like dollar store or something like that and buying fake plants and putting them in her tank he said shes had them in there for about 4 years now without no problems and it looks great, I went to her house today after that i had to see this and it looks great she has a 55g tank. Do any of you guys had any experiences with this because i was thinking of trying it but wasnt sure what do you guys think?

I wouldn't be too worried as long as she is only using the plastic part of the plant and not any substrate they usually come in. I also wouldn't use any fake plants if they have real wood on them or if it looks like they have been painted.

As long as it's just a solid plastic plant and nothing else, it should be fine. I can't think of any commercially available plastic items that are toxic.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Well what a great idea. Give them a bit of a soak (glues! etc like Corey said)and off you go. Choose ones that look aquatic ... or you could go bezerk and to an "improbable" look <wink>
