i have been using these to sink veges when feeding them to my fish/snails and have noticed there is some corrosion on them, is this just from my hard water?

Many plant weights are an alloy of some sort, and some still contain lead. They're not a good choice for much of anything to do with an aquarium. A plastic suction cup veggie clip is a much better alternative.

Many metals will corrode when exposed long term to water, it's just inevitable unless certain steps are taken, but they're usually reserved for boats.

Either way, it's not good, so take out that weight and toss it

I dont know about that veggie clip thing, but how about using a clean rock/pebble & tying string around the veggies & pebble?

That may work

I used the vege clip at one time and they where a pain. I went out and bought a big bag of elastic bands and some round rocks about 1-2" around and been using that system since.

Go to your local $1 store and buy a lil' bag of marbles ( glass balls / toy )... a little cloth / mesh and 2 elastic bands.

Easy breezy !

I use a rubber band and a small smooth rock to hold food, for the lettuce I just sit it on top of the letuce leaf. I have seen the clips used but I have never bought one.
Other vegies I squash some and the others either sink or float.
