i have a sample packet of water conditioner i got for free from pet store
[the whole packet is .25FL.OZ (7mL)]
it says pour the whole packet(7mL) into 15 gallons of new tap water, i only want to add the water conditioner into 2-3 gallons of NEW water, so how much do i add?(its in a plastic packet, not bottle or anything)
thanks

You can try measuring it out with a teaspoon, you'll be better off if you just buy a bottle of water conditioner from your lfs though.

1 tsp =5ml if I remember correctly.

Since you should be performing water changes weekly you'll want to get a whole bottle soon.

7ml : 15gal
-----------
X : 2gal

2(7) = 14

14/15 = .93 ml

Round it out to 1ml per your 2 gallons.
1ml = .20 tsp

So Tim what you are trying to tell is is just less than a 1/4 tsp = 1 ml? I'll keep that in mind, and next time I'm trying to treat a tank that gives me something like this and I need to break it down, I'm calling you...heidi

EDIT: So how many oz = ml? that was the last one I had to try and figure out...use 2 oz to treat 250 gallons of water...Ok I have a 125, and the measurements provided are in ml...:%) talk about insane:%)

tankie, that is conversion of mass, not volume.

One U.S. liquid fluid ounce = 29.57 mililitres

1 fl. oz. = 29.57 mL.

I use an extra vial from my test kit. I have some square ones from a nitrate test that marks off every ml and a solid line around at 5ml and 10ml. Much better than using measuring spoons.

1oz=30ml When in doubt I load google and type in convert and the 2 things I want like "convert oz ml"

FYI
1 oz is usually rounded up to 30 ml. The cups that come with cough syrup hold a max of 30 ml, next time your at the drug store, ask for one of those little cups- theyll give you one, they come in handy- then mark it for fish!
