is it nessecary to add the air in the bag, when traveling from a lfs to home, see how the fish isn't a labyrith. and since it is the worker blowing into the bag, is that carbin dioxide anyway?

The worker should not blow in the bag to fill it up with air, they should either use less water so they can capture enough air in the bag or use a air line. for a short distance it is nothing to worry about but for longer periods of time in the bag yes the air helps, when the water sloshes around in the bag it oxigenates the water.

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

got ya, only the lfs workers around me sometimes do that. my wholesaler has a air source, like how the people at the store blow up ballons. anyway i never got why they did that, but now i get it, since the water is moving around in the bag.

the oxygen dissolved in the water itself should last for at least 30 minutes (even an hour, if there aren't too many fish in one bag).
adding air to the bag will help replenish the oxygen in the water just like it helps in lakes, for example.
there's about 20% oxygen in the atmosphere. there are about 16% oxygen in the air coming out of a human's lungs. although it is considerablly less oxygen, it doesn't really matter unless you're planning on a 4 hour trip with the bag.

the compressed air also helps keeping the fish safe from nasty bumps on the road.

have a look next time your lfs obtains the air from. if it is from an oxygen bottle. Great. but if it is from an air compressor this could be bad. the air in the compressor can have oil in it and other contaminates. so be carefull.
