i don't know what kind of rainbows i have, but there is a group of 6. sometimes two of them go next to eachother and then flare. is this a breeding ritual.

Probably two males sizing each other up, if they are like other species who flare at each other.

If they are inducing them to spawn they will have a stipe glowing on their head. The male will then point to a spot and then vibrate as the female passes. This behavoir does not always result in spawning. Its become a ritual for my male turquoise to court the female.
