i went to my lfs and i saw "yellow rainbow at 9 USD ea." WOW is this price right when the fish isn't really that colorful. n.e way i just ended up getting 2 (ready here i go trying to spell what i can't) asutranlin rainbows , and (and again) madiscaian rainbow.

if you have the room, you should get some more rainbows, they like to be in groups.

Similar situation here. LFS sells a small variety of rainbows.. none of which are very color but all of which are very pricey. $10+. I see some gorgeous fish online but never in stores.

Don't forget tho, that most rainbows, when stressed look pretty weak and washed out.

AS they settle in and become happy with their surroundings they'll come alive.

DO you know what rainbows you bought??

Also keep in mind that along with the stress form the lfs, the fish are often juveniles. For example, I just received some M. trifasciata from the Coen river. They are similar to Goyder river but green/orange instead of red. However, at the moment, they are not much to look at. Give them some time and they may surprise you.

That's what I figured. What's generally the nicest looking (most colorful when mature) rainbow easily available at an LFS besides the Boesemani variety?
