Bubble corals are highly available, but the true green ones are a rarety. Not much more in cost though. Royal Knife. Not all that expensive, as they are offered from time to time. The rarety part is keeping them very long. As they are hard to aclimate. Mine is now about 16 inches. A breeding pair or true Black Onyx Percula Clownfish. Very expensive and rare in the hobby Black Arowana. Very rare in the hobby now, as there is a ban on them from shipping out of their native lands. Blehri snakehead. Down to just one. Since the shipping ban on them is now strongly in effect in the states, the snakehead is a rare fish here. But the Blehri are a rare snakehead to get in the first place. This quite possible could be the only one, or only one of a few of these fish in the states. Gauchua snakehead. Rare in the states (see above about the Blehri snakehead). But only semi rare in the world. Etia Nguti. I was one of the few people to be the first to get this fish from its discovery. Of the 3 other people I know of that have gotten some, mine are the largest and they are still not mature. Not a whole lot of info available at this time. Some info states these fish get 4 inches, while other info states they get 10 inches. Mine are almost 2 years since I got them, and my dominant ones are at 5 inches now, and have not shown any breeding signs yet. Newly discovered in 2003, I fear much info is also wrong about these fish. They are a Tilapia. And in person, they are quite attractive. And there are more. But, one thing to consider about rare and hard to get fish, is where you live. As this site is international, you will find people with fish that are extremely rare where they live, yet extremely common in your area. There is always a bigger fish... |

I had free koi, discus , oscars, etc. I did rather better one year and got loads of rare reptiles, from prehensile tailed skinks and lots of unidentified geckos in really interesting colour phases from teracotta pot importers who had some "stowaways" . The best by far on the lizard front was a pair of totally bubblegum orange slow worms(anguis fragilis), i kept them to get their health up and released em in an area I know well, and even despite their freakish orange blue colouration theyre still doiing well. |

Not bad I guess. And I got German Rams for $8 each. Congo tetras for $3.50 each! Last edited by fishnewbie at 03-Sep-2005 07:38 |
