ammonium - 0
nitrate - 10
nitrite - 0
ph - 6.4 (still putting ph up in it, should be 6.8 in 2 days)

if my ph is up to 6.8 before friday, would it be ok to add fish on friday? (today is monday)

my cycle went by quickly, but this tank has already been used, i just re-did it after i lost most of my fish. the rocks are the same (just added hot water to kill any diseases, such as ich), my biofilter is still the same. and a bit of water under the rock level is the same.
if my specs improve as anticipated, would it be ok to add fish? i intend to add 4 tiger barbs to my 29 gal, then wait 2 or so weeks til i add anything else (probably 2 more tigers)

What are you putting in the tank to raise the pH? pH up products do not stabilise you pH and your tank will suffer swings.

The best thing to use (and cheaper) is baking soda. Try adding half a teaspoon per day until you reach the desired pH you want.

If you can find Cali, around he has a good site about raising the pH with baking soda (?). Otherwise I know the limestone does a semi decent job as well, it just becomes your decoration...heidi

Why would you want to raise your pH?

Unless you are going for african cichlids or fish that require neitral water keep it a 6.4. That would be an awesome tank for Rams, Tetras, and maybe Discus depending on the tank size

Tiger Barbs...do they mind low pH? I'm not sure.

The profile on this site says 6-8 is ok Tiger Barbs.
Leave the pH alone it is perfect for alot of tetras and alot of fish can adapt to pH.
