Hello - I'm new to the site put I've been keeping fish on and off for most of my life. The last 7 or 8 eight years I've kept nothing but cichlids. I had a tank of various africans - they all got something - don't know what - and it wiped out the entire tank in a couple of months. Learned to use a quarantine tank the hard way.... A month ago I lost my Oscars to hole in the head after battling it for most of their lives (4 yrs - pretty sure they were sick when I bought them).

I now have an empty 120G tank. I've decided that I want to set up a community tank - I know I'm going to have neons and hatchets, clown loaches, some tetras (don't know which ones yet) but I also want something kind of different or unusual?? I've been reading this site for weeks now and I'm hoping I'll get some great ideas!

Welcome to the site, sorry you lost your old fish but glad you're putting the tank to use!

Of the tetras I've kept there's one favorite...diamond tetras. And no...it has nothing to do with the name . they're rather active (as far as tetras go) and do have quite a nice sparkle when the light hits them. They're also some of the larger tetras and would really appreaciate that sized tank. See if your LFS stocks them or if they can order them for you .

I'd also suggest looking for corys as bottom feeders 120 is big, but in my opinion still not quite big enough for a school of fully grown clown loaches.
