What on earth is a rice fish?
(is there such thing )

I would assume a rice fish is a betta, as they commonly live in rice paddys.
Another option is, there is a small type of livebearer that I believe comes from Asia and is also found in rice paddys. I cannot remember the name of the fish, but Takashi Amano keeps them.
