in an other thread i asked for ideas on how to aquascape my 15g. i decided on sand substrate and mainly rocks.

what do you think? pictures aren't great the lighting is 100000K blue ish blue, background is blue fading to black.
plants anubias, 1 java fernlet, single grass.

15g
another pic
how it looked before

i've noticed since i lost my female gourami a few weeks ago, my male is always hinding, his new place is under the rocks on the left habd side of the tank. see pictures above.

should i get a new female cause he is lonely?
or could something else be wrong - he doesn't seem to want to eat.

cheers shekoi

i've just been reading about gouramis and found this

Dwarf Gouramis require a tank that is 10 gallons or larger. The aquarium should be heavily planted and have at least part of the surface covered with floating plants. A darker substrate will help show-off the gourami's colors, and peat filtration is recommended. Regular water changes are a must, as this gourami can be susceptible to disease. They should not be kept with large, aggressive fish, but are compatible with other small, peaceful fish as well as fellow gouramis. Loud noises often scare them, so the tank should be in a quiet area.

my 15g tank home to my shy gourami is in the living room, close to the TV. could my gourami just be scared of the noise and movement?

i could move him to my planted 20g?? would that be better?

cheers shekoi

The tank looks nice shekoi, and I think moving your gourami might be a good idea, especially if there is a lot of noise and commotion where currently located. A heavier planted tank would give more of a sense of security.
