Freshwater definitely.

I find freshwater much more beautiful than marine, and saltwater actually doesn't interest me at all...

Ditto what cory said

SW is alright, but if I want to see it I'll just go to the aquarium ....or on a dive .
FW to me is just more interactive and social.

wow that tank is really nice looking. He could of done more with the stocking tho.

I like freshwater much more. Yes, saltwaters nice, but freshwater is so much more interesting and has the potential to have much better aquascapes than sw

Plus (prepares for flames), all reef tanks look exactly the same to me. Seen one, seen 'em all.

...And live rock looks like solidified barf. Haha.

While I like the idea of maybe one day having my own small (50 gal.) reef tank, I am absolutely in love with freshwater aquaria because there are so many vastly different biotopes you can emulate, whereas with salt water, you can pretty much only replicate tropical reef conditions in home aquaria, so like cory said, if you've seen one reef tank, you've pretty much seen them all.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Well, personally I prefer saltwater fish. They are very colorful to look at and pretty. However with that being said, I do very much prefer freshwater tank. I like the plants, decorations aquascaping and all that, and really don't like coral.

While I'd really like a salt tank I was thinking more in the 55g range for a little live rock, some inverts, and some gobies. Something that size I'd probably do freshwater.
