Get a HOB filter and keep the intake a few inches above the sand. Always shut off the filter when you do anything that might kick up the sand so you dont suck it up into the filter. Quikrete commercial sand works great. Have fun, Mike |

A UGF is def. a no-no though. Even HOB's like AquaClears can still get sand caught up through the intake and cause problems, I think Babel has some experience with that. Maybe. I'm thinking panty hose over the intake might work? ![]() -Formerly known as the Ferretfish ![]() |

It will be blocked & wouldn't work. Remember to rinse the sand as much as you can. http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Make sure you've done your research into sand. It does have it's own needs and requirements. ^_^ ![]() Current [link=Contest Rules]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/44382.html?200412022138" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] ![]() |

If you get enough for a small school each, your tank would be over crowded. A school of wcmms might be doable, they wouldn't require a heater. |
