I just say that those are a waste of money & a normal tank would be quite easier to keep & more comfortable for the fish.

You would have to be careful with sound. I think that carefully placing items on the table wouldnt bother the fish to much. Id be afraid it would break or my cat would knock it over more then anything!

Heh, if I had $1000, I would save it till I get another $1000.... Then i could have a 250 gal tank! Not that it would fit in my apartment, mind you.

My sons thought they were a great idea! Until I told them they would have to completely stop running and yelling and basically playing at all in the living room! Both our fish tanks already have the bad luck of being in high traffic areas and I'm constantly on the boys to stop running by them although we haven't lost any fish due to noise. Good thing I like to look at my fish and enjoy having the tanks up where I can see them, these things would give me a pain in my knees every time I wanted to look at the fish!

Hate to disagree with everyone but I think it would be one hell of a talking point. Given the cost however I wouldnt do it. I dont think the noise would effect the fish too much though, one of my tanks is near a speaker and I practice trumpet right next to my other one and the fish havent died from it. You could wire the speakers through the floor, if your gonna drop 1000$ US on a tank then another 50$ in wiring wouldnt hurt.

The first time I ever saw one of these, it was on an old James Bond .007 movie. I think it got shot up or something, by the bad guys. It was pretty while it lasted.

Well, on some of them the tank itself is nice. You just need to take it off the floor, get rid of that glass plate on top, replace the substrate, put it on a stand and get some nice PC lighting and plant it, then you'd have a great tank on your hands

good thing you already planned that one out huh??

lol.. yeah i for sure want a bigger tank eventually.. but im BROKE!!

you know i got a 55 gallon at walmart for just under $200... with filter and everything included..

although i swapped out the filter and heater and whatnot, it still wasnt a bad chunk of change... i think i'd rather blow my money on another one of those if i had it lying around..

Let's see, around $1,000 US ... that's about £650 UK.

For that money, I could have a proper aquarium, and a big 6ft one holding up to 125 gallons to boot. With stand, hood, lighting system and two powerheads driving an undergravel filter. Add a bit more and I could pop in a power filter too.

That gizmo looks to me as if it's designed to be aimed at the kind of people I criticised in my "An Aquarium is not a TV" article ...

Why buy an undersized pot of water with all those design faults when you can buy a 125 gallon setup almost ready to run for the same money? Heh, i know people who built a decently equipped marine aquarium for the same outlay (ok, not a 125, but around 60 gallons, which is OK if you're going to stick to small fishes and sessile inverts).

Plus, your fish would love you for getting a 125. My Pandas would go ape if they had a 125 to play in - and in a 125, I could have 40 Pandas as my bottom feeders!

My God have you seen the price for those things?
$499 - tank
$295 to $369 - shipping
$50 - decorations
+ tariff, tax, or broker's fee
Correct me if I'm wrong, but do most 41 gallon tanks go for over $1000?

Water changes would be a pain in the ###, and filtration isn't easy to regulate, either. Otherwise, it isn't all that bad an idea.

It says on ebay that it is lit from below thru blue glass beads . So Your plants wouldn't do well . You couldn't regulate the amount of light at all and it would only be in the blue spectrum . I can just see someone dropping something heavy on the top and stressing the fish out . Plus everytime you walked by it would scare the fish . Looks like a money making bad idea to me.

You would be down on the ground all the time to see your fish. Also, you would have to have it in a corner or you would have electrical wires running across the floor. Lighting it wouldn't be easy either.

what IF.... it was strickly like a decoration piece, and not a conventional table????

i just wonder how people plug the darn things in??

oooh.. you know what.. i bet it has an undergravel filter... we all know how those are

anywho... i think they're a cool idea... just not a great one... i guess if i wanted to spend $400 on a fish tank i couldnt really see/use... then i would just buy a normal tank!

No way would I buy any thing like that. The noise from placing any thing on the top would shock the fish.

yeah, although they look pretty cool, i would think cleaning and feeding would be a HUGE pain....

PLUS.. where do you plug in the filter and heater and whatnot? gah... the only time i ever saw one in working order was when i was about 8 so.. i didnt really pay too much attention to the technicalities of it.

ive seen them before however could not imagine ever owning one. I could imagine that the noise of placing objects on the table would stress the fish....
