opiate![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enthusiast Posts: 152 Kudos: 82 Votes: 12 Registered: 30-Sep-2004 ![]() | Hello, My girlfriend recently bought one of those smaller jebo tanks..After she'd set it all up and got it all running i thought i'd be nice and give her my lonely discuss, it's an hr drive to her house (she's at uni doing honours atm) so when i got there he was a lil upset, however after a few mins in the tank he was dandy. The next day we decided to get him some tank mates..the lfs suggested some dwarf guaramis, i agreed so we got 2, 1 male, 1 female..and a few kuhli loaches(just cause there so cool). Cut a long story short! the male guarami will attack the female then out of no where the discuss puts in his 20 cents worth! The funny thing is tho..the male guarami tries to court the female all the time and thats when the discuss gets the sads and joins in... is going on lol? should i get her another discuss?? ![]() |

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

I would even think about rehousing the discus actually. Is the tank planted? Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

Can he even swim anywhere? Dwarf gourami can be a bit agressive toward each other and it seems many labyrinth fish males will beat up the female if she doesn't have a place to hide. Usually the dwarf gouramis don't do much damage to each other so long as they have a place each to hide. However with the discus in there the space is severely limited. By the time you add decorations for the gouramis the discus won't be able to move. Then take into consideration they are a schooling fish and quite sensitive and we're watching a disaster waiting to happen. A 10g is difficult to keep stable and a discus is very unlikely to survive a drop in water quality. I usually hear of people keeping them in large tanks and doing 50% daily water changes to keep water quality pristine. It doesn't strike me as a fish that would survive in a 10g tank and I definitely don't have the money to risk on it. |
