I got a tank of approx 37 US gallons with 5 peppermint bristlenoses in it. I have 2 filters working on it only just moving over 1000gallons per hour.

I am wondering if I should put somethhing else in there.

I also have 6 plants in there. If Im going to make this a bristlenose only tank should I remove the plants and switch off the light? I have had hair algae problems in the tank and I have a feeling that might be the best thing to get rid of it.

hair algae is tough, i think the reconmendation is to up your watts per gallon, add co2 and do more water changes but you will have to look into that. i am currently batteling hair and brush algae, have fun.

it really depends on you...what do you want to do? I wouldn't remove the plants and totally get rid of the lights, it will mess with them even if they are "night owls"

Hair algae is a pain, I had it, and it finally went awayi was just pulling it out from the tank, not knowing what it was to begin with....now it's gone Up the water changes I know that helps a ton...

Maybe you can add a school of Tetra's, like Glowlight, Rummynose or Cardinals.
