They seem to be growing quite thick, mainly on my Elodea canadensis (Anacharis) Common Name: OXYGEN WEED and a bit on my Echinodorus bleheri (paniculatus). Does anyone know A) What it is ? B) Is it harmfull to fish or plants? C) How do I get rid of it? Regards Leon |

This site describes the various types of algae, what causes it, and how to eliminate or control it: [link=http://www.otocinclus.com/articles/algae.html]http://www.otocinclus.com/articles/algae.html" style="COLOR: #FF00FF[/link] Frank ![]() -->>> The Confidence of Amateurs, is the Envy of Professionals <<<-- |

It can be removed by twisting it around a little stick. A lot of healthy plants help to stop the spread of the tread algaes. It can also be caused if the tank is exposed to direct sunlight. There are medications for removal but the main stream of thought is do not use them as they could cause other problems.
