I need something to put in with my rams in the 10 gallon they are currently housed in. I need something peacefull and small which doesn't add much of anything to the bioload. Any ideas? My rams seems kind of timid so i figure they could use some kind of dither fish.

i currently have 3 boliv rams in there right now (inch and a half) and i plan on moving one out if and when a pair is formed. so 6 neons would be ok for the bioload?

bolivian rams? hmm thought you had blue rams. hmm tough call. can you add some live plants or something? 6 neons might be pushing the bioload in a 10g im not entirly sure. bolivians are a tad bigger then blues but you might get away with it. dont add all 6 neons at once that would crash ya. keep it simple i dont care how lonely they look and what pitaful look they give ya lol. 1-2 at a tim every 2 weeks or so depending on your tank test results. water changes once a week no questiosn asked. keep a close on test results and follow it weekly before each water change to see how much your pushing it. if nitrates begin to get to high and even after weekly water changes its still going up then your beyond the limit.

a couple live plant may make the difference. keep in mind 10 gallons arnt the most stable to begin with so this might be a mistake but i dont think you will be pushing it all that much honestly. keep track of it and be consistent and i think you will be ok. actually doign it is up to you. i would atleast try it and find out. worse case you notice its going out of wack and you remove the neons. bolivians are pretty hardy they will be able to handle a small short term spiek in nitrates i woudl think.

6 neons should be ok on the boi load but i would recommend moving the ram as soon as a pair starts to get formed because you will most likely lose the other ram.

yea i definately planned on using live plants and moving the other ram when the time comes. I figured i could pull it off in a 10 gallon in hopes of breeding then moving the fry when they get bigger.

if your doing it for breeding i would leave them in it alone and just let them get use to the tank for a coupel months...they will more then likely give you fry no problem.

prolly timid cuz they are new in the tank and young. give it time before goign for neons in IMO.

If you decide to not leave your rams in there alone, my pair of rams got along fine with a Flame Dwarf Gourami and Cherry Barbs and you could fit a Gourami or a pair of Cherry Barbs in there comfortably -

i have 2 bolivian rams in a 10 heavily planted with 7 neons n a very young peacock eel i have 2 males bot them very young to young to determine sex but they have there own side of the tank to each there own no problems my tests which i rarely do anymore come back perfect

the neons compliment the rams very well in a dimly lit planted tank
ive never bred bolivians but my blue rams bred in the same setup same tank actually but i sold them for 20 bux a piece
