Depends on what size, but some bettas will eat them. The snail is a favorite of the dwarf puffer too, and of course like you said, the clown loach.

*wonders if larger gouramis will eat smaller snails*

Hmm...

smaller loaches will eat snails, in theory. loaches such as yo-yo loaches, which will only grow to 4 inches or so, unlike the much larer clowns. like clowns, the prefer to be in groups. yo-yos seem to be more docile when in groups.

i say in theory because they wont always do it, especially if other food is available. i have yo-yo loaches and a breeding polulation of MTS in the same tank. occasionally i see an empty snail shell, but for th emost part they dont eat the snails because other food is much more readily available. they're just not conditioned on it.

best snail eaters I've always heard of are puffers and loaches (zebras, yoyos, skunks, clowns etc.). puffers would obviously be ruled out but you could probably go with a school of zebra loaches. I've had minimal aggression from yoyos but they also weren't in a big enough school. I've never had trouble out of my zebras though.

I have kubotai loaches that seem to do a decent job of eating snails; at least they keep the snail population in check. I still see the occassional snail, but am no way overrun with them. They are super docile and like to be in groups. The only problem is that they tend to be a little pricier than other small loaches, but are definitely worth the extra dollars.
Good luck with whatever you choose

I'm from Central Illinois. I have seen them at a few stores. I don't normally buy from chain stores, but I actually happened to find these at a Pet-Co and couldn't pass them up.

Hmmmm Where about are you? I'm in Illinois also...... Quad Cities. I wonder if I asked the local Petco here to order them if they would?
