heaven2![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1065 Votes: 0 Registered: 10-Jun-2002 ![]() | If by "Moss ball", you mean the Japaenese algae balls that are all the rage right now, I would say no, they would not be a good stand in for a spawning mop. The algae balls are pretty dense and although eggs could adhere to them, you need something loose that they fish or at least the eggs can get inside of, between the strands. A big blob, say football sized, of java moss would be a good alternative to a spawning mop for fish where you will leave the eggs in situ. If you need to pick the eggs out (say to incubate, like for many killies) then you'd be better off using a synthetic spawning mop. Spawning mops are a cinch to make. |
