| still debating, once again.... | |

It is moderate to well planted, with micro sword, vals, a baby red melon sword and a small anubias. and right now contains 1 ADF. I'd like to maybe add some driftwood or rocks soon. The choices I am debating are killis, male endlers, and dwarf puffers. Killis were my initial top choice but they are very difficult to find around here. Male endlers are also kind of hard to find, but they are pretty. I was wondering if like 2 killis (a small variety obviously) plus a trio of male endlers would work? that would be colorful and pretty i think. I think they would also both be compatible with the ADF as well. My other option is dwarf puffers, which are readily available here, so they are much more convenient. they are not as pretty, but they are damn cute. do they have a lot of personality and would they get along with my ADF? I was watching them at the fish store and they didnt seem to do much, but they were also just crowded in an empty tank. I didnt get a sense of their real personality. could they possibly be combined with killis or endlers (more likely endlers) at all or should they strictly be with their own species? the other factor to consider is I have very pretty fish in my 10 gallon that is in the same room, rams and threadfin rainbows. so maybe I should go for the less flashy dwarf puffers, and go more for personality? |

I had figure 8 puffers several years ago and if the dwarf have personalities anywheres close to these then you couldn't go wrong with them. |

They can be successfully kept with otos. I've also had ADFs in my puffer tank without problems. I had a group originally, and they were typical DPs. After our move I was left with a pair. This was a year after I bought them. For whatever reason they became quite mellow. They were in a larger tank with a pair of mollies and some bumblebee gobies. I recently lost another, and I think the remaining puffer was sad without its friend Since I was going to move them from that tank eventually I put him in my 5g with 2 month old guppy fry. He's so happy now, swimming along with them and eating again. Not once have I seen him show any agression towards the guppies. Go figure ![]() I think if the tank is well planted and you have some hiding places having an ADF shouldn't be a problem. And an important thing to remember is they need snails in their diet. I breed pest snails in a small 'kritter keeper' for them.
