You cannot put much in a 2.5 gal. tank. Bottom feeders need to stay in schools & so they are out of the question.

I would not put any fish in a 2.5 gal, its way too small. If I were you, I would stock it with shrimp.

Oh get yourself a male betta...and yes, there seems to be a lot of threads on stocking the small tanks suddenly...a lot of people think the smaller the tank the easier it is to keep. Noone has any idea just how easily this hobby is going to get out of hand, and the little 2.5 gallon is going to be replaced with a 125

So yes go with a little male betta, he'll love the tank, instead of the little things they are sold in, and he'll be really happy and able to show his finnage the best...and no you can't put a normal bottom feeder in there, the tank is way toooooooooooooo small so grab a snail or two or threeheck I put them in, and my bettas gobble them up
