I have recently received a 4'x 2'x2' fishtank, which I have set up with hollow logs and java fern.
I have checked all water parameters and all read great!
Temperature: 26.o celcius
PH: 6.9
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 10ppm
Water is soft with a digital reading of. 18x10ppm Is that right?

My thoughts of stocking the tank are my...
2 Blue Acaras (male and female-6"
2 clown loach 3"
1 Black Ghost Knifefish 7"
1 pictus catfish
1 Sailfin Pleco 3" ( waiting to 6" then given to friend. )

Would this be O.k.?, can I add any other fish?
But, Im definately keeping the Blue Acaras And the B.G.k.F
any other fish is flexible, though

The sailfin pleco will reacy 6" in No time flat.. they grow really fast. Why not go for a bristlenose pleco or two? And how many gallons is that tank exactly?

That tank is 100g.
Heres what you want to have:
2 Blue Acaras (male and female-6"
2 clown loach 3"
1 Black Ghost Knifefish 7"
1 pictus catfish
1 Sailfin Pleco 3"

Ok, I am not entirely sure, but I dont
think Blue Acaras would be a good mix with
a Black Ghost Knife. Arent they aggressive fish?

Clown loaches need to be kept in groups of 6 or more.
Please up the number to 6 for their healthy and well being.
Pictus Catfish are also schooling fish. Again, add some more for the health and well being of the fish.

Seems though that you have a lot of bottom fish
and not a lot of other fish.

I think you should drop the bgk they will eat all the fish in that tank I say add

1 deomon fish
6 pictus cats
6 clown loaches
10 glass catfish
1 african butterfly fish
6 giant danios

that will make sure you have fish for the top middle and bottem it would look really nice that way. You could posabley add a school of silver dollers. That would look really cool in that tank. It would make some kind of cool silver flash. If the light hit it just right it will make you want to buy more of them because it will look so cool i love silver dollers they are one of my favorit fish.

sorry!,
but my pictus catfish is very aggressive towards it's own species & the BkF is the only fish which stands up to the BA's
as for the sailfin pleco he's being given to my friend in three weeks , would I be able to get clown pleco's (grow up to 6" and how many should I have?

The clown loach will be upped to 6 soon, but they are very costly for that size(in fact twice the price of clown pleco's)

I have had most the fish in a 3' tank but it looks empty especially near the surface.
what kind of schooling fish would I be able to put in it.

like i said the giant danios like to stay at the top. another fish you could put in the tank would be like 3 pearl gouramis get 1 male and 2 female so the males wont fight.

If you are planning on breeding the blue acaras you should rethink any nocturnal feeders. they have a habit of snatching eggs and fry while the parents cant care for them efficently.
keep the sail-fin they are so cool but then again so are all plecos

Well that's a good-sized tank. The acaras may be something of a problem if/when they breed. At first it will just be for any bottom-dwelling fish: they'll have a territory, mom will guard the eggs, dad will guard the area. But after the fry are free-swimming they'll start herding them around the tank looking for food.

There is a lot of different info regarding the 'correct' number of clown loaches to keep. Loaches don't school, but do like company. I keep 4, and they're very happy, colorful, active.

Giant danios are a good choice. They're very, very active so the middle-top portion of your tank wouldn't look quite so empty. They also have nice coloring. Being as fast as they are I've never had problems with them and other fish, and I've kept them with some rather agressive individuals

If you don't like the looks of the Giant Danio then maybe look at some rainbows. They have much nicer colors. The only thing is some of them can be way $$$.
