See if shellies are available in your area and go with [link=multis]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/multi.xml" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link].

Try planted and go with one male betta or a few females. Planted 10g's are good because it doenst take as much to get higher wattage, it's cheaper for the substrate and you can run DIY CO2 .

"1 Red Wagtail Platy (M)

on the corydoras, shouldn't you add more than 6? i thought they were schooling fish?

also, as for platies.. i'm up to my ears in platy and molly fry... i'd prefer something different!

Green spotted puffers are brackish-saltwater fish and not even 1 would fit happily in a 10g. They grow to 6" each and do like their space. Now dwarf puffers would fit but only around 3-4 or you'll risk agression problems and they only get to be about 1-2".
[link=http://www.pufferlist.com/]http://www.pufferlist.com/" style="COLOR: #C000C0[/link]is a great starting place if you ever need to identify a puffer and learn the basics about it. It's just sad that place like walmart and many fish stores recently are selling green spotted puffers to go in freshwater and such small tanks.

yeah i also read that they prefer salt water to fresh water, yet places still sell them as freshwater. I think if i were to get a fish like that, i would want to house them comfortably, and a ten gallon is not much room, so thats why im asking for stocking advise before i just buy something. puffers are cool fish, but i dont feel like im necessarily experienced enough to handle saltwater.

If you actually are interested in puffers then dwarf puffers are completely freshwater. They do require feeding frozen foods though and much prefer a planted or at least heavily decorated tank. Very few learn to take dry food and some have to be taught to take frozen when you first get them. 3 would be quite happy in a 10g and in the right m/f ratios with a variety of frozen foods there's a good chance they'd breed for you. Puffers are nice but don't put five in there! Although they are a relitivly peaceful species when they are small they get very big and very territorial. I would put one puffer and mabey some Gormies (they are very hardy and swim quickly)
Also, If you go with a puffer, make sure you have alot of plants and hiding spaces!

Puffers are a great fish, I have such a weak spot for them! I had 3 pufferlings (dwarf puffers) once upon a time. Though they all fell ill due to some live food stock I was feeding them, I have a feeling they got parasites from one round of black worms that I bought.

Yes they need a very heavily planted/decorated tank no matter how many you have, or how big your tank is. Basically to keep each puffer out of eye line site from each other, or else it would just be constant bullying.

In a 10G I would put no more then 3 or 4... for might even be questionable to me.

Only get 1 male in a tank that size, the rest should be females (they will be plumper often, more round in size then the males.) So be very selective when the fish store bags up the fish for you.

They will require live/frozen food, very few will accept flakes or pellets etc.
