well personaly I think get as many neons as you can in there with a small bottom feeder and a few plants and one of those air powered toys and your kid will be a fish nut in no time

this is a suggestion from a "fishy friend" of mine

2 male guppies- 5 female guppies - 1 small plec (BN) - 1 small catfish - 10 cardinal tetras - pair of dwarf gouramis

that sounds a bit over stocked to me wot do you think

although i like the contrast

Four or five male guppies would look great in a ten.

I have a 10g with neons and a male betta. You could have 6-8 neons. Also, after it is cycled, you could add a couple ottos for algae.

Be sure to add the neons after the tank is cycled though. If not neons, then you could have cardinals. Or you could not have the betta and do all neons, cardinals, or lemon tetras.

You could also substitute the betta for one male dwarf gourami.

Plant the tank and it will look great. Good luck!

Oh and just befor anyone shouts at me for the size of my oscar tank im using it as a grow out tank there is a 110 gal on stand by when the time comes when i feel they are getting a bit "cramped" I did have them in the 110 gal originaly but it just looked silly. There nice and happy at the moment and i do love them so wouldn't let any harm come to them. Hope that puts everyones mind at rest
