there is a suspishus white substance forming on the suction cups of my fliter/pump and heater also i noticed it on the inside of the tube of my hyrdo cleaner!! any ideas

I get that too on new suction cups and rubber tubing. It's some kind of fungus or something that grows on new rubber like a slime coat. It may even be an algae, as my ottos seem to like eating it. It doesn't appear to be harmful to fish or affect water quality, and after a few weeks, the rubber will stop developing the stuff.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

The white stuff that collects on things in my tank is calcium. Mostly I get it around heaters but any suction cups will have some.
