If it's on the side of the road, that means it's free for anyone to take (and even if it wasn't, who would stop you?).

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Do it!

That's how I scored a free guinea pig cage. Size-wise it's the equivalent of a 55 gallon! It would probably be $100-$200 at a petstore, except none of them even carry cages that big!

If its outside and has been for sometime then chances are that the owners arent planning to use it again. Unless it is right on the side of the road then I would be putting a note in their letterbox or taping one to their front door asking what plans they had for the tank, and add your contact details. Thats the polite thing to do.

Besides if you dont ask and just grab the tank then I bet it will be a leaker when you get it home and all cleaned up.

Make sure you clean & seal it well before using it. I would re-seal it aswell, just to make sure it's 100% good.

hello,

I've passed the tank a few times in your yard & was hoping you wouldn't think it rude of me asking if I could take it off your hands?

I am happy to clean it up & take it away as I have some fish in need of a bigger home & this would really help.

My name is....my number is....or if you leave a note on the tank I'll see it when I pass by again on....

Thank you for your time.

Definately try to get permission to take itunless of course it is garbage day or the day before, and it's sitting "too close" to the garbage, then by all means take it Even then I'd knock on the door and ask...but the note above would be good...here's hoping for your sake, heidi
