i have 2 glowlight, 3 neon, and 4 black neon tetras. again a question about schooling. i assume they arent the brightest animal alive but since all the tetras are very simular will they have any problems with stress due to not being in groups of 6?

its one large group of 9 instead of 3 groups of 6 to me i wouldnt think it would make too much difference but im not the fish.

they may not be the most intelligent but tehy can still distinguish themselves from others. jsut becuase they are tetras does not mean tehy will groupp together.

They will notice. They will only school together when they are stressed out and scared.

I could see it being ok with similar schools such as neons and cards but your look totally different.

My glowlights and neons used to hang together pretty good since they are similar in body shape and size, but I would still suggest getting at least six of each. I have no experience with black neons (a totaly different species from neons), but would think that they would be happier with more of their own kind also.

They'll be much more happy in a big school of the same species.
