10 US gallon: 3 White Cloud Minnows & 3 African Dwarf Frogs - the only live plant is a larger piece of floating water sprite(almost half of the surface)

I want to add some male Guppies. I was originally thinking about just adding 3 guppies. But a local store is offering 5 fancy males for $4. And that's actually cheaper than if I were to buy just 3.
Would 5 male Guppies be too much for my tank?

Don't add too much fish in a 10 gal. tank, as small tanks are more difficult to keep than big tanks.

I certainly agree a 10G is far harder to keep than a large tank. There is room for any error at all.

Be extremly carefull to what you add, look to the future when all the fish are fully grown. If you have any breeding fish in the tank this will add to the problems very quickly.

I've never experienced any problems with fully stocked 10 gallons, so I'm not to worried about adding a few more fish.

With the live plants, I want to make sure I have enough Nitrates being produced. And with my routine maintance, I won't have a problem with too much.

I pretty much knew that 5 would be pushing it space wise, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I already worked out what I'm going to do. I'll be buying the 5 male Guppies for $4. But I will only be keeping 3 of them, and my brother will take the other 2.

That is a better solution With regular upkeep and careful stocking, i've never had a problem with my 10 either, even with 14 fish plus snails

You summed it up perfectly."With regular upkeep and careful stocking"
I was refering to that you have little or no room to make an error incomparison to a large tank.
Touch wood my Betta tank is running well.
