wendy happened to notice yesterday that our dwarf gourami had got herself competely stuck between a rock and the side glass, once the rock was eased to one side she swam free straight to the top and stayed there gasping at the surface for quite some time.

i think its a lucky escape for her as she is now swimming around happpily and eating as normal although missing a good few scales down one side.

seems she had got herself stuck trying to get an algae wafer that had dropped between the rock and the glass.

guess its a good lesson to us and one for people toremember when aquascaping to make sure rocks and other ornaments arnt to close together and to oclose too the glass.

Glad you caught it in time to rescue her. Fish tanks are like homes..you have to child proof your home when the baby comes, and you have to fish proof your aquarium.

I have said it many times just sit and have a good look at your tank every time you feed them. It is usually here you will find out if a fish is missing or not eating.
Well done a good rescue.

I had rescued one of my razzies from just the same thing. My wife had bought this large (1" gravel when she bought the tank and after just a few weeks one of the razzies was caught under/between two rocks trying to do who knows what. But I gently moved the rock and he swam crookedly but happily away and is just fine even now. good thing for him I do a daily count at feeding time.
